Let's Find the Happy (again)

I had such warm fuzzies last week from focusing on happy stuff going on, I'm going to try and make this a weekly ritual.

Here are my 10 Happy Things for the week:
  1. The Texas Longhorns' win today over the Oklahoma Sooners.  When Mr. Mamarific is happy, everybody's happy.
  2. Naptime.  The day Baby Boy stops his naps is the day I will start drinking in the afternoon.
  3. Finishing off the week-long birthday celebration with dinner out tonight with Husband and tickets to see Dawes and Jason Isbell of Drive-by Truckers
  4. Papa has come to babysit, so that #3 can happen.
  5. Nothing to do tomorrow. Happy Sunday!
  6. My cats.  They drive us all bat-shit crazy sometimes, but they are super cute and snuggly, for the most part.  Today, this one saved me from doing laundry.
  7. The internet, which allowed us to watch the Austin City Limits Music Festival live streaming, since I couldn't be there in person for all the amazing music. Last night, I watched Vampire Weekend, a bit of Muse, and Depeche Mode.
  8. Wine.  I look forward to having a good glass (or two) of it tonight.
  9. A week free from migraines!
  10. Did I mention naptime? It warrants mentioning again.
Life is good when you focus on the Happy.

Ten Things of Thankful

Comments

  1. I am so with you on naptime. My son is 6 now and he still naps and drinking seems to be a good idea when he will stop (I hope not anytime soon...).

  2. I love my wine as well. And now, as I slowly get off all my medication, I need to stock up on some ruby-red liquid again (aka happy juice)

  4. Migraine free week sounds pretty damn good. So pleased to hear that you're going to have a gorgeous night out with your husband, knowing that your children are going to be well looked after (I still remember that when my grandad came to babysit, it was the BEST fun). Hope you really enjoy it, and your lazy Sunday.

    Love the cat picture :)

  8. You're reading my mind. A nap is coming very shortly, for sure. How was Dawes? I love the band. Drive-By Truckers ... ehh, sometime they're okay and sometimes, well, lets just let it ride at sometimes. lol Amazing how we can always blame our pets when we need a good excuse, isn't it? :) Good post!

    1. Thanks, Rich! Dawes was great, and Jason Isbell (the guy who was in Drive-by Truckers) was amazing. Download his Southeastern album, you won't be sorry.

  9. #6 is my favorite, because NO ONE moves a sleeping cat, especially when he's preventing you from doing laundry (it's only bad when the cat's in your lap and you REALLY REALLY REALLY have to go to the bathroom).

  10. Ah, an entire day without anything to do is my dream. Hope you enjoyed yours today!
I treasured naptime when my big kids were little. Keep it up, even if they don't go to sleep every day. I always made mine go to bed anyway and read some books.

Wow, I'm glad you have gone without a migraine all week, but I feel bad that it is something to celebrate. It means a week without one is a rare thing? Migraines are beastly things. I hope you have another good, migraine-free week.

  11. A migraine-free week is a wonderful thing! My husband gets them frequently, too, so I know (in a second-hand way) how refreshing it is to go stretches without them.

  12. Even though I am a big fan of wine...eventually you get to the stage in life where YOU get to take that afternoon nap. ;P

  13. My cat and I are mad at each other today. He badly needed his claws clipped but he wasn't gonna let it happen without leaving his mark(s) on my arm! Butthead cat!
