Happy Blogoversary to Me!

One year ago yesterday, I held my breath and hit "Publish" for the first time. If you’d like to take a trip down memory lane with me, you can read my first post on Duran Duran here.  I had originally shared my shenanigans at the DD concert as a “Note” on Facebook and later moved it to this blog, following it up with a post on the Go-Go’s.  I kinda have a thing for music, as you now know.

Re-reading these early posts, I can’t help but cringe a bit at the wordiness and un-tight ramblings they contain, but hey, you’ve got to start somewhere.  And I did not know Thing One about writing.  No English major here.

Thanks to Yeah Write, an incredible online community of writers who blog and bloggers who write, I have learned a great deal over the last few months about how to construct and tell a story, in the most meaningful, yet efficient way.

Yeah Write also inspired me to change the name and look of my blog, condensing “Life on the Mamarific Merry-Go-Round” to just “Mamarific”.  The tag line I came up with for Mamarific of “Think. Love. Laugh. Write. Be.” is all that I embrace in the course of an average day.  I intend to use my brain, but not take myself too seriously.  I hope to pull out the “so what” moments from the everyday ups and downs of family life.  I want to continue to write about them, share them with you and hear your side of the conversation, too.

It only took me 40+ years to figure it out, but writing is The Thing That Makes Me Happy, and if you’re a blogger reading this, you know that it becomes as important as the air we breathe.  At this point in time, I don’t think I could stop blogging for any reason short of a natural disaster.

It’s in my blood now.

My plan for the upcoming year is to not have a plan, and see what comes my way.  To just keep reading, writing, living and blogging about it all.

I know I’m a happier person for it.
